Essential Tools To Carry In The Car

We’ve booked a long weekend break at a holiday home down south, and planned to drive the 5 hour journey, the family car has just been serviced and we’re all set to go. Flicking through a local car parts and accessories catalog it dawned on me that I don’t carry any extra tools in the car apart from the standard wheel changing kit that came with the car.

Although we have full RAC Roadside Assistance cover, I decided get a tool kit for the car – not that I know anything about the mechanics of the engine or how to fix something that’s broken – just thought it would be good to have some basic items.

Off I went to the nearest Kmart and bought some basic tools and using my (not used) Grid-IT organisers, I arranged the tools neatly and placed them under the flap in the boot of the car – nicely concealed away.

The full set of tools comprises of:

  • 20 piece 25mm CR-V bits
  • Bit Holder
  • Long Nose Pliers
  • Adjustable Wrench
  • 9 piece Socket Set
  • 8 piece Hex Key Set
  • Mini LED Torch
  • Scissors
  • Stanley Knife
  • Insulation / Electrical Tape
  • 50mm Gaffer Tape (10 meters)
  • 3x AAA Batteries (spares for torch)
  • Various sized Zip Ties
